The SHIFT-HUB Conference 2025, titled “Smart Health & AI: Driving Innovation with Data“, was held on October 10, 2025, at the Aristotle University Research Dissemination Center (KEDEA) in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The event brought together over 200 participants, including experts, researchers, innovators, policymakers, and stakeholders across Europe to discuss the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI), data-driven innovation, and smart technologies in healthcare and well-being.
Participants had the opportunity to engage in various talks and presentations. The programme featured keynote speeches, a roundtable discussion on the responsible use of AI in healthcare—addressing ethics, compliance, governance, and practical strategies—and an Innovation Session, where startups and European projects presented their technological solutions and received valuable feedback from experts and scientists.
Through the interactive sessions, the event fostered networking, idea exchange, and collaboration among researchers, healthcare professionals, businesses, and policymakers.
The conference underscored the need for responsible AI adoption, equitable access, and patient empowerment as central pillars for smart health ecosystems. It also highlighted the role of Horizon Europe and other EU, as well as national funding frameworks in supporting innovation.
In parallel, the comprehensive portfolio of SHIFT-HUB services and the SHIFT-HUB Community platform were presented, highlighting tools that support collaboration, scalability, and the development of innovative technological solutions in the health sector across Europe.
In addition, the SHIFT-HUB Policy Brief provided recommendations to overcome systemic barriers and strengthen collaboration across Europe’s digital health ecosystems.
The conference served as a vibrant forum for dialogue and knowledge exchange, underlining the role of responsible Artificial Intelligence and data as key drivers of innovation and quality of life.
The conference proceedings, published by the Lab of Medical Physics and Digital Innovation, School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, capture all contributions, including keynote talks, panel discussions, innovation sessions, and student research presentations. They showcase a vibrant exchange of knowledge and a strong commitment to advancing AI-driven healthcare, personalised medicine, and inclusive health systems, while also outlining pathways for impactful research, meaningful collaborations, and forward-thinking policy development.
