Living Labs are dynamic, user-driven environments where innovation is co-created, tested, and validated in real-life settings. They bring together public-private partnerships, including citizens, companies, universities, policymakers, and civil society organizations, to collaboratively develop solutions to real-world challenges. Specifically, Living Labs aim to create immersive and interactive processes that allow citizens, patients and other vulnerable populations to discover and engage with emerging Smart Health solutions. By actively involving them in the different testing phases through iteration cycles, Living Labs enable end users to provide valuable feedback to the developers, ensuring that the solutions fit their needs, ultimately facilitating smoother adoption, greater impact and sustainability of the solutions to the society. By leveraging the Living Lab approach and ENoLL’s dense network of 150 members and more than 400 partner Living Labs across Europe, showcasing and demonstration opportunities are offered to technology providers by providing the possibility to participate in local demonstrations and events

Demo Days focus on setting up the conditions that allow us to showcase the solutions developed by the members of the SHIFT-HUB community. In collaboration with external DIHs, which are enrolled as official partners of the project and whose infrastructures, know-how and services are promoted to the community of technology providers (in particular Startups, SMEs, etc.), the consortium creates a portfolio of selected solutions that can be promoted to potential users. The solutions that occurred are made available, according to their nature, on the premises of these organizations, and/or online. Tools, such as videos with the demos, presentations of the solutions and tutorials for the end-users are provided by the apps developers and used to enhance the demonstration.
As part of our planning for the SHIFT-HUB Demo Days, we initially set a target of organizing six events by the end of the project. Remarkably, this goal has already been achieved, and we are now planning additional Demo Days! From the outset, Demo Days have been designed as an effective platform for innovators, entrepreneurs, start-ups, and researchers to showcase their products, services, or solutions to a broader audience, including investors, pilot users, and public procurers.
To date, more than 150 professional users of Smart Health solutions and products have participated in these events, which have been hosted across four countries: Germany, Greece, Romania, and Portugal. To enhance accessibility and outreach, we organize Demo Days in both on-site and online formats. Looking ahead, we are committed to continuing these events even after the project’s completion, expanding beyond the SHIFT-HUB partner countries to engage a wider audience.
To join upcoming Demo Days, you can:
Demo Days are interlinked with the services related to the matchmaking processes (Matchmaking Events) within the Healthcare Network, the Access to Funding (both public and private), in order to be facilitated to reach the market, as well as the participation in the Dissemination activities of SHIFT-HUB (External Events, Annual Conferences, etc.).
The Access to Funding service is designed to facilitate access to both private and public financing for startups and SMEs in the health sector, supporting the development and scaling of digital solutions and services.
Support begins with an initial assessment of each company’s investment readiness. Based on this evaluation and the company’s growth stage, a tailored scouting process is carried out to identify the most suitable funding opportunities—whether private or public. This enables companies to better understand the available instruments and how they can be accessed effectively.
Connections with specialized investors and relevant public and private organizations are fostered to enhance funding opportunities for community members. In parallel, a continuous mapping of public funding sources at regional, national, and European levels—including key programs such as Horizon Europe and Digital Europe—is undertaken. This is complemented by stakeholder matching activities to support regional, cross-border, and pan-European collaborations.

The SHIFT-HUB Smart Health Data Space, hosted by SHIFT-HUB partner Cleyrop, provides a secure and controlled “sandbox” environment for various activities related to health data and smart health applications. This includes the collection and access to secure data from patients and citizens, as well as the development and integration of smart health applications and repositories. The data space serves as a demonstration and experimental framework, facilitating the connection between application providers and end-users, which includes both professionals (practitioners) and private individuals (citizens).
The health data space supports the improvement of health algorithms and applications by providing access to a comprehensive set of data processing tools, which enhance the ability to utilize data effectively. Its mission is to offer adequate infrastructure and associated tools necessary for the development of smart health products and services. This is achieved by easing data access and fostering interactions and co-development solutions between providers and users.
Furthermore, it aims to identify and integrate relevant smart health application providers and repositories through tailored scouting activities, with the goal of evolving into a smart health
The data space thus stands as an innovative and robust solution, designed to meet the needs of data providers, developers, and users, all within a secure, scalable, and easy-to-adopt context.

The RAISE platform is a secure, user-friendly system that transforms data sharing and processing by enabling researchers and innovators to collaborate while maintaining full control over their datasets. Using a distributed model, algorithms are sent to the data for processing, removing the need for data transfers and ensuring compliance with regulations like GDPR. By leveraging blockchain for traceability and attribution, RAISE supports Open Science principles, encouraging responsible data sharing and fostering innovation across research and industry.
The main objective(s) of the RAISE Platform are to:
Just like home-sharing platforms that connect hosts and guests in a trusted environment, RAISE transforms data sharing into a secure, controlled process. Data providers act as hosts, keeping their valuable datasets securely within their own infrastructure, never losing control or ownership. Meanwhile, data processors do not download the data—instead, they send their algorithms, acting as guests, to the data for processing. Data providers keep their datasets on-premises, allowing only approved algorithms to process them remotely. Blockchain technology records every interaction, providing a persistent identifier similar to DOI, guaranteeing traceability, attribution, and compliance with sensitive data regulations like GDPR. Whether you’re seeking reliable data or want to share your work responsibly, RAISE guarantees recognition, security, and accountability for all involved parties.
The RAISE platform benefits a wide range of stakeholders, including but not limited to the following key groups:
