On 12 December 2025, SHIFT-HUB hosted the webinar “Explore SHIFT-HUB’s Services: Your Gateway to Accelerate Smart Health Innovation”, offering participants a detailed view of the project’s wide range of services, tools, and collaboration opportunities.
As SHIFT-HUB progresses into its final phase, the webinar provided a comprehensive overview of the project’s innovative ecosystem and the services available to stakeholders—including innovators, healthcare organizations, SMEs, patients, policymakers, and others shaping the future of Smart Health.
Participants were guided through SHIFT-HUB’s three Service Pillars—Build & Boost, Connect & Thrive, and Learn & Grow—which are designed to support real-world health innovation, foster meaningful collaboration, and drive the adoption of Smart Health solutions. The session also explored how SHIFT-HUB’s tools and outcomes can continue to benefit stakeholders beyond the project’s conclusion.

The webinar featured presentations from SHIFT-HUB’s diverse consortium, showcasing the project’s services, achievements, and impact across Europe’s Smart Health ecosystem.
Overview of SHIFT-HUB
Alena Bubeck from Steinbeis Europa Zentrum introduced SHIFT-HUB’s vision, objectives, and milestones. Over the past 36 months, SHIFT-HUB has united 12 partners from 8 European countries to co-create a collaborative ecosystem for Smart Health innovation. The project’s focus spanned innovation support, community-building, training, data-sharing, and exploitation pathways.
SHIFT-HUB Service Offer
Joana Carrilho from the University of Porto provided an overview of SHIFT-HUB’s service offerings, explaining how they were developed to address the diverse needs of stakeholders across the Smart Health ecosystem.
Deep Dives into SHIFT-HUB’s Core Service Pillars
- Open Innovation Workshops: Presented by Anastasia Papachristodoulou from KiNNO Innovation Intermediaries Ltd., these workshops foster cross-sector collaboration to co-create solutions tailored to real-world healthcare challenges.
- Demo Days: Adamantios Koumpis from University Hospital Cologne highlighted how Demo Days allow startups, SMEs, and researchers to showcase cutting-edge technologies. Demo Days foster partnerships for adoption and future collaborations.
- Living Labs: Annita Varella from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki presented the Living Lab methodology, sharing success stories where patients, citizens, and healthcare professionals co-create and test Smart Health solutions in real-life settings. This ensures that innovations are user-centered and practical for adoption.
- RAISE Data-Sharing Platform Collaboration: Evdokimos Konstantinidis from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki presented RAISE, a secure platform that enables organizations to access and share health data while maintaining trust and privacy.
- Community Platform and Marketplace: Gabriele Casalini from the European DIGITAL SME Alliance detailed how SHIFT-HUB’s e-health platform connects stakeholders, facilitates partnerships, and accelerates collaboration through events, matchmaking, and a searchable marketplace.
- Entrepreneurial Discovery Workshops & Policy Recommendations: Leonie Fath from Steinbeis Europa Zentrum resented SHIFT-HUB’s policy-oriented activities designed to support digital health ecosystems. She highlighted case studies from Northern Portugal, Central Macedonia, and Baden-Württemberg, illustrating unique challenges and opportunities in these regions. Additionally, she shared the policy recommendations which were developed to bridge gaps in Smart Health by strengthening regional innovation ecosystems across Europe.
- Educational Repository: Joana Carrilho introduced the repository, which offers high-quality resources to improve digital health literacy and bridge the skills gap for patients and practitioners.
- Gamified User Journey: Nadja Dokter from IPPOCRATE AS unveiled the SHIFT-HUB Smart Health App, which uses gamification to educate patients and citizens about disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and mental health.
By connecting stakeholders, offering high-quality services, and addressing barriers to adoption, SHIFT-HUB is contributing to making Smart Health more accessible, inclusive, and impactful.
